Join us to kick off the Summer Reading Season with a crafting project, face painting, and
listening to A Basket of Stories with local StoryTeller Laureate, Karen Pillworth. Basket of Stories:
“What draws us more together than our stories? Come hear traditional, and not-so-traditional
tales, like Henny Penny, The 3 Pigs and the Rondout Lighthouse, and Maisy Mamook and the
Hula Hoop. You'll become part of every story for stories bring us "all together".
Spend an afternoon crafting with Malina. Activities include making and sending cards to a local
assisted living facility and making beautiful paper flower bouquets to brighten someone’s day.
Reptiles and Amphibians Program with Hudson Highlands Nature Museum at the Hurley Reformed Church

Explore the basic characteristics of Reptiles and Amphibians by meeting live animals! This
program features a special emphasis on comparing these two similar but distinct groups of
animals. Particular focus will be placed on the native species of New York and the challenges to
survival that they face. This presentation includes a number of manipulatives such as shells, skins,
eggs, and other animal artifacts providing students with a tactile dimension to their learning. The
program also emphasizes a conservation theme as students learn about native animals of our
region and habitat conservation. (In partnership with the Town of Hurley and West Hurley Library)
Special Story Time: the History of the Post Office with the Hurley Heritage Society on the Library Lawn

Join us for an outdoor story time on the library lawn. We’ll read books about mail and the post
office during this family storytime. We will also write letters to spread kindness in our community.
You can also view the Hurley Heritage Society’s exhibit, Post Offices of Hurley: 1837 to the
Present, where children can open a vintage mailbox and find a surprise! (In partnership with
Hurley Heritage Society)
Kingston Then & Now Multimedia Presentation at the Hurley Library

Join us for a free multimedia presentation that explores the history of each of Kingston's
three neighborhoods, hosted by historian and filmmaker Stephen Blauweiss. The talk is
based on the new 500-page book by Blauweiss and co-author Karen Berelowitz, The
Story of Historic Kingston: Featuring 950 Images and Connections to the Catskills & New
York City. The presentation features hundreds of rare photographs, compelling stories,
and Then & Now comparisons, and is chock full of lesser-known anecdotes that will
