Job Opportunity
Technology Support Clerk
Job Summary: Oversee library technology including but not limited to patron computers, staff computers, and loaning library technology equipment. Handle and resolve patron technical issues.
Essential Duties:
-Installation, preventive maintenance, and minor repair of all computers and other peripherals
-Performs help desk duties for staff and patrons
-Maintains library technology plan
– Assists patrons with online library services including but not limited to Hoopla, Libby, Overdrive, and Kanopy.
-Provides assistance in the use of equipment and software to both patrons and staff
-Teaches monthly technology classes based on patron interest
– Prepares specifications for the purchase of computer software, hardware, supplies, and other equipment
-Attends appropriate meetings, workshops, and seminars
-Assists in grant application processes and E-Rate funding
-Other duties as assigned
Desired Skills
-Knowledge of computer networking concepts and applications
-Willingness to explore and research solutions to computer problems as they arise
-Ability to interpret and communicate computer problems
-Good communication skills, both verbal and written
-Ability to interact with patrons and staff openly, courteously, skillfully, and accurately
-Ability to train/assist others in the use of equipment, software, and related items
-Ability to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl and lift heavy equipment
Minimum Qualifications
-Associate degree in computer science or related field and up to two years of related experience
-Ability to install, configure and troubleshoot PC and network-related hardware
-Must be able to work well with non-technical staff and patrons
Hours/Pay
15 hours per week starting at $20.00 an hour

Hurley Library
The Hurley Library will hold its annual trustee election and budget approval vote on Thursday, October 20, 2022, between the hours of 4 pm and 7 pm. Voting will occur at the Hurley Library, 48 Main Street, in Hurley. Absentee ballots are available at the library.
All registered voters in Hurley districts 2,4,6 and 8 are eligible to vote.
Two candidates, Heather Blakely and Mary Curcio are running for election for two seats to a four-year term.
A tax levy of $223,800 is up for approval. This represents an increase of 10% to cover increased insurance and utility expenses as well as minimum wage increases. This increase will amount to an estimated increase of $12.49 per year based on a home assessed at $200,000.
