Tenement Bus Trip
Located on Manhattan’s Lower East Side, 97 Orchard Street was once a typical 19th-century tenement building. Today, it forms the core of the Tenement Museum. Seven restored apartments — along with a recreated German beer saloon — reflect the lives of Jewish, Italian, Irish, and other working-class immigrant families who once lived there.
Each participant will be assigned a guided tour focused on a specific immigrant experience. Tour assignments will be distributed on the bus.
While waiting for your tour, you may:
- Use your museum gift shop discount
- View a documentary
- Visit a local café
- Explore the neighborhood during designated free time
One guided tour is included with your ticket.
Departure: Kingston Plaza at 8:00 AM
Return Departure: Museum at 4:00 PM
Accessibility accommodations are available within the museum; alternative mobility options are not available for the surrounding neighborhood. Link to Handout
